The village, Taurize, is situated just over 30 km south of Carcassonne. There is a bar, grocery, butcher, bakery and garage in the neighbouring village of Serviès-en-Val, a kilometre away; croisssants and baguettes are delivered to the village every morning; other restaurants and a range of craft shops and galleries are a short drive away in Lagrasse.

The nearest airport is Carcassonne, 40 minutes from the village. Ryanair flies here from London Stansted, Brussels, Dublin and various other cities. Toulouse, 90 minutes from us, is served by direct flights from many European cities. Other nearby airports include Perpignan, Beziers and Montpellier.

From the US or Canada, it's typically easiest to fly to Toulouse via Paris or Madrid. There are also direct flights from many American and Asian cities to Barcelona, which is about 3 1/2 hours away.

The village is just under half an hour from the A61, the autoroute linking the Mediterranean, Toulouse and routes from the north. Driving time from London is about 14 hours: consider an overnight break between the Loire and Chateauroux. We can provide advice about routes and stops on request.

If you prefer to travel by train, Carcassonne can be reached from Paris in 5 1/2 hours; from the UK in the summer it is also possible to take Eurostar direct from London St Pancras to Marseille in 6 1/2 hours.

Note - once you are in the region, you do need a car to reach the village and get around.
